I am a flexible and empathic cultural manager with a track record of senior public and entrepreneurial development across England, Scotland and Wales. Recent roles include Executive Director of Scottish Dance Theatre, the national contemporary dance company for Scotland; CEO of Circomedia, a leading physical theatre and circus centre in Bristol; Head of Arts, Bristol City Council; and Service Director for Glasgow Cultural Services (now Glasgow Life). As an independent arts consultant, I have worked with a number of high profile and emerging arts companies, leaders, artists and producers.
I work on the road and in the studio, as well as in offices and venues; my ability to contribute strategically is always linked to practical outcome. I pay active attention to ideas and my strength is seeing the connective threads that can grow them. I love this work, and I myself grow from each encounter.
‘’Jan will meet you as the person you are and then make you better at being the person you want to be. She will meet the business you have and make it better at being the business you want it to be. And all with grace, humility, a depth of experience and lots of laughter. ‘’ Seth Honnor, Artistic Director Kaleider
